Force
Hardraw Force, Hawes, Yorkshire, is England's largest single drop waterfall,
cascading a hundred feet into the scar that is part of the grounds of The Green
Dragon Inn. Painted by Turner c.1817, a flood later in the 19th centuary reshaped
the scar and damaged the village of Hawes. Trees now obscure Turner's view but
add to the magical approach. Kevin Costner showered at Hardraw in the Holywood
movie, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
These paintings were inspired by a number of visits between 1999 and the most recent in August 2004. Prices vary
